Sunset View Creamery is a fifth generation family dairy in Odessa, near Watkins Glen, that has been farming since 1905. The Hoffman family milks a mix of Holstein, Brown Swiss, and Ayrshire cows.
Their raw milk is lab tested, and they also make raw milk cheeses right on the farm. New York allows raw milk to be sold only on the farm where it’s produced, and only by farms holding a state raw milk permit. Permitted farms are inspected and have their milk sampled and tested by the state, and they post a sign letting customers know the milk is unpasteurized.
Our tip: Book a cow cuddling session if you have kids along. It’s a fun way to meet the animals that make your milk.
