Hell Hollow Swiss is a first generation dairy farm in Mount Vision, northwest of Oneonta, raising registered Brown Swiss and Holstein cows. Brown Swiss milk is known for its balanced fat and protein, which makes it great for drinking and for making cheese.
New York allows raw milk to be sold only on the farm where it’s produced, and only by farms holding a state raw milk permit. Permitted farms are inspected and have their milk sampled and tested by the state, and they post a sign letting customers know the milk is unpasteurized. The farm store also carries beef, whole chickens, eggs, cheese curds, yogurt, maple syrup, and homemade baked goods.
Our tip: The store is open every day, which makes it one of the easier raw milk stops in Otsego County.
