Chaseholm Farm in Pine Plains has been in the Chase family for three generations and is now run by Sarah Chase and her brother Rory. The herd is certified organic and 100% grass-fed, with rotational grazing all year.
Raw milk is bottled just for the farm store. New York allows raw milk to be sold only on the farm where it’s produced, and only by farms holding a state raw milk permit. Permitted farms are inspected and have their milk sampled and tested by the state, and they post a sign letting customers know the milk is unpasteurized. The store also carries their yogurt, cheeses like Camembert, beef, and pork raised on whey from the creamery.
Our tip: Email the farm ahead if you plan to buy more than two gallons.
