Sprucegate Farm is a third generation, women owned dairy in Walden, in Orange County. The cows are pasture raised and Animal Welfare Approved, milked twice a day, and the milk is bottled fresh daily.
Raw milk has been one of the best values in the region, around $5 a gallon. New York allows raw milk to be sold only on the farm where it’s produced, and only by farms holding a state raw milk permit. Permitted farms are inspected and have their milk sampled and tested by the state, and they post a sign letting customers know the milk is unpasteurized.
Our tip: Book a farm tour if you have kids. It’s a great way to see where your milk comes from.
