Churchtown Dairy outside Hudson is run by a nonprofit, the Foundation for Agricultural Integrity, and farms with a biodynamic and organic approach. Its landmark round barn, about 80 feet across, is one of the most striking farm buildings in the Hudson Valley.
New York allows raw milk to be sold only on the farm where it’s produced, and only by farms holding a state raw milk permit. Permitted farms are inspected and have their milk sampled and tested by the state, and they post a sign letting customers know the milk is unpasteurized. The farm store also offers a lower price tier for SNAP shoppers.
Our tip: Take a look at the round barn when you visit. It’s worth the trip on its own.
