Hawthorne Valley Farm in Ghent has been farming biodynamically for more than 50 years, and its milk is Demeter certified Biodynamic. The farm store is a full grocery with their own creamery and bakery products.
Hawthorne Valley does voluntary pathogen testing on top of the state’s required testing. New York allows raw milk to be sold only on the farm where it’s produced, and only by farms holding a state raw milk permit. Permitted farms are inspected and have their milk sampled and tested by the state, and they post a sign letting customers know the milk is unpasteurized.
Our tip: Raw milk can sell out. Call the store to check stock before you make a special trip.
