Serenity Meadows is a small Jersey dairy in Weedsport, between Syracuse and Auburn, run by Doren Martin. The cows are born and raised on the farm and spend the growing season on grass, which gives their milk that rich, creamy Jersey flavor.
This farm holds a New York raw milk permit, which means sales happen right on the farm and the milk is regularly sampled and tested by the state. Raw milk sells for about $8 a gallon or $4 a half gallon, plus a jar deposit. New York allows raw milk to be sold only on the farm where it’s produced, and only by farms holding a state raw milk permit.
