Butterfield Farm is a grass focused family farm in Burke, near Malone in Franklin County, milking about 30 Jersey cows. The farm is certified organic by NOFA NY.
New York allows raw milk to be sold only on the farm where it’s produced, and only by farms holding a state raw milk permit. Permitted farms are inspected and have their milk sampled and tested by the state, and they post a sign letting customers know the milk is unpasteurized. The farm also raises grass-fed beef, pork fed on their milk, and pastured poultry.
Our tip: Sales are by appointment and can be seasonal, so give them a call before you make the drive.
