Nourishing Food Connection is a cow share group in Asheville focused on nutrient dense food for families across Western North Carolina. Their milk comes from Jersey cows that are 100% grass-fed and never fed grain, and the herd is A2, which some people find easier to digest.

In North Carolina, a herdshare is the legal way to get raw milk. You buy a share of the herd, pay a boarding fee to cover the animals’ care, and in return you receive milk from the animals you co-own. Deliveries run on a regular schedule, usually about every two weeks.

Our tip: Jersey milk is high in cream. Let the jar settle and skim the top for homemade butter or to add to your coffee.
